Zelda Williams is back on Twitter after being on hiatus for three weeks.
The 25-year-old daughter of the comedian, Robin Williams, who recently died of suicide due to depression, has returned to the social media site that became a platform for cyberbullies to target her.
Bullies replied to a post Zelda uploaded of her sentiments on her father's death saying "I love you. I miss you. I'll try to keep looking up." The perpetrators replied with photoshopped images of what they claim to be Robin Williams' body. Zelda asked for the two twitter users to be reported for abuse, and later deleted her message. On August 13, Zelda posted that she was deleting Twitter, saying: "I'm sorry. I should've risen above. Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye."
After deleting her twiiter account, Zelda took to tumblr to thank the people who are currently supporting her in her time of need. She also sent a message to "those sending negativity". She wrote: "Know that some small, giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car. Right after you've had it washed, after all, he loved to laugh too."
Zelda's father, Oscar-winning actor Robin Williams, was found dead at his California home on August 11 after committing suicide. The actor was supposedly treated for depression before he took his own life by hanging himself, sources say.
According to a statement from Newsbeat, Twitter's vide president of trust and safety Del Harvey said: "We will not tolerate abuse of this nature on Twitter. We have suspended a number of accounts related to this issue for violating our rules and we are in the process of evaluating how we can further improve our policies to better handle tragic situations like this one. This includes expanding our policies regarding self-harm and private information, and improving support for family members of deceased users."
Nevertheless, fans are glad to hear that Zelda is back online, and wish her only the best for her recovery.
