Gotham-Netflix Deal Sealed; Streaming Media Official Sure That Fox's Batman Prequel Completes Will Become A Massive Hit On Their Site

Fox's Batman prequel Gotham is yet to hit the tube but it is already creating a big buzz. The superhero series, which will depict the life of people in Gotham before the arrival of Batman, has been dubbed by many entertainment websites and critics as one of the best show this fall. Its projected success is one reason why Gotham-Netflix didn't surprise a lot of fans.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced that they have sealed a deal with Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution that will allow them to stream the show that will premiere on September 22. This agreement marks the first time that streaming media company completed a deal for a series that is yet to be broadcast. According to the deal, Netflix will get exclusive subscription video on demand rights within US territories where the company is operating.

Gotham is yet to be seen publicly but the show's star power is enough for Netflix officials to jump on the bandwagon. A company official is firm that the Gotham-Netflix deal is going to be a success.

Gotham is the most anticipated new series of the fall season and we are thrilled to offer it to our members around the world," Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. "The Batman origin story is sure to have massive global appeal so it is fitting that, along with Warner Television, we have created a new model for distributing a show that international and domestic audiences will love."

Gotham stars Benjamin McKenzie who will play young James Gordon, a new captain in Gotham City's police department. The show will also feature Batman's mortal enemies before they became villains. Other notable characters in the series are Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle.
