Making herself known in the coming-of-age chick-flick and then cult-followed "Cluess" in 1995 as Tai, Brittany Murphy's death in 2009 shocked members of the entertainment industry and fans alike. The 32-year-old actress collapsed in the house she shared with husband Simon Monjack. Although was able to reach the hospital, she was pronounced dead a couple of hours after. Although many over-the-counter substances were found in her system her death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
The coroner later reported televised via CNN, "the possible adverse physiological effects of elevated levels of these medications cannot be discounted, especially in her weakened state." She had previously been undergoing treatment for pneumonia and iron-deficiency.
As if the tragedy wasn't enough, less than six month after her death, her husband Simon Monjack was found dead in their residence, with the coroner reporting the same cause of death.
Murphy's career and death has caught the attention of Lifetime channel and has since been releasing teasers to the TV movie/biopic to air in September 6. "The Brittany Murphy Story" trailer, release date set this week is lead by Amanda Fuller as Murphy and Sherilyn Fenn as Murphy's mother. Fuller is known for her work in "Last Man Standing".
Nearing the release of the biopic in Lifetime, Murphy's father Angelo Bertolotii speaks out in disgust of the upcoming "The Brittany Murphy Story" trailer, release date. He told Examiner.com, "I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter. 'The Brittany Murphy Story' is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life. It's hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue."
Notable performances of Murphy include her portrayal of Daisy Randone in "Girl Interrupted" (1999), Fay Forrester in "Riding in Cars with Boys" (2001), and Alex Latourno in "8 Mile" (2002).
