Leaked Photo Scandal Not A Security System Breach But ‘A Very Targeted Attack,’ Says Apple; iPhone Maker Advises Users To Use Strong Password; FBI Investigates The Matter

| By

Apple has distanced itself on the latest leaked photo scandal that has drag names of multiple celebrities.

One week before its launch of a new iPhone, Apple made clear that after their investigation on the leaked photo scandal, it turned out that there was no security breach on their systems and that it was due "to a very targeted attack".

"We have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet. None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems including iCloud or Find My iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved," Apple said in a statement.

iCloud lets the users access their music, photos, documents, and other files from whatever device they are on.

Apple also advised all their users "to always use a strong password and enable two-step verification".

Over the weekend different names were tagged in this leaked photo scandal. The nude images of celebrities involved were posted on image posting website 4chan, and since then spread to other social media sites. The person who uploaded the photos said that more images would be posted soon.

Jennifer Lawrence is among the celebrities involved in this fiasco. A rep for her confirmed the authenticity of the photos. Other celebrities said their photos were faked.

The FBI has stepped into the issue and has been doing their investigation on the matter.

However, some people negatively reacted to Apple's statement, saying that the company is putting the blame on the iCloud users.

Others suggest that there are ways to hack one's iCloud account when you have the right tools.
