Pacific Rim 2 News:Sequel On April 2017 Confirmed! Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim 2 A Totally Different Movie From The Previous ‘Pacific Rim’

| By

Finally, we'll be seeing another Pacific Rim 2 Movie!

Guillermo Del Toro and his team are now currently on the pre-production of the film, The Jaegar versus the Kaiju movie was a hit in 2013, and now a sequel is in progress that will be released in 2017.

'Pacific Rim' movie earned $411 million worldwide. Will the sequel be a hit too?

The second movie's plot is still unknown. There are rumors that Newt, character played by Charlie Day, becomes a villain in the second movie. His "drift" to the mind of a Kaiju draws to a conclusion that this might have a wicked effect on him and might turn him as an alliance of the Kaiju.

But according to Charlie Day, "I remember when I first met with [Del Toro] that he liked the idea of Newt becoming a bit of a villain in the second film. But, I think over the course of making the film, and the way the character resonated with the audience, I don't think he would want to turn him into a villain now, but I really have no idea."

So, it wasn't confirmed yet if Newt becomes a villain or not.

Charlie Hunman an Rinko Kikuchi had already confirmed their appearance on the second movie.

In an interview Charlie Hunman said he doesn't have ideas about the movie yet.

"They're moving forward slowly," Hunnam said. "Nothing's guaranteed, but I think [del Toro and Penn are] going to get the script delivered in about a month or something, and then I think they'll probably know more clearly how they feel about moving forward. There's certainly a pretty healthy level of enthusiasm at this point."

He continues, "I'm interested to see if -- I don't know if they will -- once that threat is diminished, what the sociopolitical landscape would look like I'm sure literally the last breath of the last Kaiju we'll be back to fighting each other."

Guillermo del Toro teased that the two films are different from each other but are part of one big spectacle.

"It was hard to create a world that did not come from a comic book, that had its own mythology, so we had to sacrifice many aspects to be able to cram everything in the first movie," he said. "Namely, for example 'the Drift,' which was an interesting concept. [Then there was] this portal that ripped a hole into the fabric of our universe, what were the tools they were using? And we came up with a really, really interesting idea. I don't want to spoil it, but I think at the end of the second movie, people will find out that the two movies stand on their own. They're very different from each other, although hopefully bringing the same joyful giant spectacle. But the tenor of the two movies will be quite different." Guillermo del Toro in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

They began designing the movie "Pacific Rim 2″. The process takes about nine months.

"I start with a core team for about six months designing the jaegers and the Kaiju, you know, so we know how many kaiju, how many jaegers," he said. "We are creating some new jaegers and a lot of new Kaiju."

Universal will distribute the movie after their tie up with Legendary earlier this year.
