Samsung smartphones and iPhones may be dominating the market, but none of these got the title "The World's Thinnest Smartphone." Do you know what brand has claimed the throne?
Imagine this: the iPhone 5S is 7.6 mm thin while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is thicker at 8.1 mm.
The Gionee GN9005 boasts of itself as the world's thinnest smartphone even if it is not released in the market yet. It is by far thinner than its predecessor the Gionee Elife S5.5 with 5.5 mm thickness.
On the teaser released by Gionee, the company compared this upcoming phone with other cell phones that had been released in the market: the MOTO V8 at 11.9 mm; the iPhone 4 at 9.3; the MOTO XT910 7.1 mm; and its very own the Gionee Elife S5.5.
But being a 5-mm handy phone doesn't make it behind the specs of the other famous smartphones.
Display
Dubbed as the world's thinnest smartphone to date, the Gionee GN9005 has an AMOLED display of 4.8 inches that comes with 720 x 1280 resolution. It weighs 94.6 g.
Hardware
In terms of hardware, it is backed up with a quad-core processor 1.2 GHz coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Added to that is a 16-GB internal memory but it has no room for memory card. It also has pre-installed Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean).
Camera
When it comes to camera, it has front and back at 8 MP (with autofocus and LED flash) and 5 MP, respectively, and a 720p video recording.
There is no current pricing for this hardly 0.2-inch thick smartphone.
According to sources, the Gionee GN9005 has already secured a TENAA certification in China, which is needed for it to become available in the international market. This means that the wait for the world's thinnest smartphone would soon be over.
