Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Fight Might Happen In 2015 According To Bob Arum But Will It Still Sell To The Public?

The Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Fight is the best fight that never happened in the history of boxing. This is probably what's running in the minds of many boxing fans around the world. Well, hold on to that thought guys, flush it out of your brains. The fight might actually happen, at least according to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, the professional boxing promoter that the bout between two of the most successful boxer in recent history might actually happen. He even claimed that there's a date set for it.

"Both networks want this fight to happen," Arum said. "All signs seem to point to the fight happening early next year."

"There is a sell-by date, where it becomes (after that) 'Who cares?' It has to happen by the first six months of next year," Arum said. "And if it happens, there should be a provision with a different percentage for the rematch. So that the winner is rewarded for winning the fight.

Arum was with Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach in San Francisco to promote the Filipino fighter's match against American Chris Algieri. During the discussion of the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight, Manny insisted that he's party is all in with this plan.

"Of course, I want this fight," Pacquiao said. "People have always been bothering me, 'When is this fight going to happen?' ... 'When is this fight going to happen?' I am ready to fight Floyd anytime."

Many think that this pairing has lost its charisma to the public because of Pacquiao's decline and Mayweather continuously rejecting the challenge. However, for Roach, the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight would still be a hit with the fact that they are still the biggest boxers of this generation.

"Everyone would have liked to see the fight have happened earlier," Roach said. "But it's still the biggest fight out there, and there is still a huge audience that wants to see it. I think Mayweather is a little shot, and we have a better shot now."

This is probably the biggest development for those who are dreaming to see these two fighters slug it out in the ring. But of course, there's nothing to celebrate yet until Michael Buffet shout the words "Let's get ready to rumble" and see Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather exchanging punches.
