Joan Rivers was reported to be rushed to a hospital in New York City today, after she seized breathing during a scheduled throat surgery.
Joan Rivers was rumored to undergo the procedure on her throat to fix her vocal chords, reporters say that she wanted to improve how her voice sounds. She was rumored to be sick of her raspy voice and wanted a new one that "doesn't sound like she's a man"
During procedure, however, Rivers reportedly stopped breathing suddenly, and surgeons panicked. Reports say that an emergency call to 911 was placed at around 9:39 in the morning, where the caller said, ""We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest." - meaning at one point, Joan's heart actually stopped breathing.
Although still unclear whether the doctors in charge of the 81-year old "Fashion Police" host's surgery were able to restart her heart, River's daughter, Melissa, who starred with her on the hit TV reality series, The Apprentice, is reported to be already enroute to New York. According to reports, NYPD have confirmed Joan's current condition to be very critical.
Sources say that Rivers was taken from Yorkville Endoscopy, where she was undergoing her procedure, to Mount Sinai hospital, during which she was under cardiac arrest.
There are currently still no words from her publicist, but a spokesman from the hospital where she was last brought to said: "Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support."
Rivers is currently host of an online talk show on YouTube with her daughter, Melissa called In Bed With Joan, and is E!'s Fashion Police host, where her blunt commentaries have always brought life to the set. She has also just finished filming of another series with her daughter called: Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?
Her website also previously posted that she is about to go on a UK tour of stand-up comedy titled: "Before They Close The Lid." It is set to begin on October 10 starting in Oxford, and is reported to go to 13 venues all around the country.
These existing projects definitely had the comedian's vocal chords up in tangle, which is probably the real reason why she was having them fixed in the first place.
