The Hunger Games' Jennifer Lawrence stars in the period drama "Serena". Co-starring Lawrence is Bradley Cooper in their third film together along with 2013's American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook. The period drama is directed by Susanne Bier, filmmaker for Best Foreign Language Oscar-winner "In A Better World".
The film was shot two years ago between Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Today, it still doesn't have a trailer, a film festival entry or a U.S. distributor.
"Serena" was announced around the height of the Hunger Games hype, and since then Cooper and Lawrence have released two box office hit movies together. There's still no official confirmation on when the movie might hit American theaters.
The film synopsis via screen rant:
"The film follows newlyweds George (Cooper) and Serena Pemberton (Lawrence) who travel from Boston to the mountains of North Carolina where they begin to build a timber empire in 1929. Serena soon shows herself to be the equal of any man: overseeing crews, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man's life in the wilderness. Together, this king and queen rule their dominion, killing or vanquishing all who stand in the way of their ambitions. But when Serena learns that she can never bear a child, she sets out to murder the woman who bore George a son before his marriage. And when she starts to suspect that George is protecting his illegitimate family, the Pembertons' intense, passionate marriage begins to unravel as the story moves toward its shocking reckoning."
The movie scheduled to hit the U.K. on October 24th this year, it is still currently without a U.S. release date.
Meanwhile, Lawrence and Cooper are both coming out with movies before 2014 ends. Lawrence returns in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, while Cooper stars as Chris Kyle, America's most lethal marksman in history in American Sniper
