Before moving out, new Cleveland Cavaliers Kevin Love is arguably Minnesota Timberwolves' best player in recent years. He was the face of the team even if they never made the play off in six years that he was there. When Love decided that he'll leave the Wolves camp for the Cavs, not too many people were hurt. Team owner Glen Taylor felt different though. The 73-year old did a mild 'Dan Gilbert.' Although he allowed the star forward to leave, he didn't let him go without any parting shots, salty parting shots, that is.
Taylor said that Love didn't play defense for his team adding that the former UCLA star will have a different experience in his new home when it comes to playing defense.
"I think where maybe [Love] got away with some stuff not playing defense on our team, I'm not sure that's how it's going to work in Cleveland" Taylor said. "I would guess they're going to ask him to play more defense and he's foul prone."
Those were some spicy words from a person you served for so many years. Cleveland Cavaliers-Kevin Love deal is quite similar to the issue between Lebron James and Cavs owner Dan Gilbert. The only difference is that Gilbert's emotions were the same with what most Cavs fans felt while in Minnesota, Wolves' fans have accepted the fact that their superstar has left them.
Kevin Love though didn't let his former boss's barbs go silently. In an interview with ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike, the 6'10 forward said that it is time for both party to move on. He also said that it was a fair trade because Wolves got two first picks.
"I think emotions are definitely running high right now. For Glen to say that, I just think that he should be focusing on the players that he just received. I mean, he has two of the No. 1 picks in the last two drafts: Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. He has another guy who can really play in Thaddeus Young."
"I think he got a lot for me. So I'd be focusing even more on that. More than anything, I'm just excited to start my time in Cleveland, get to work with my new teammates, and start with this new family here."
The Cleveland Cavaliers-Kevin Love situation has gone ugly. Will love get booed once he returns to the Target Center? Well, it is hard to tell. On the question whether the relationship between Love and Taylor will get better, only time can tell.
