The Red Devils, the team's nickname, fell prey to League One club Milton Keynes Dons, 0-4, with Will Grigg and Benik Afobe scoring two goals each. Manchester United Loss to MK Dons is probably one of the worst in the club's history.
With that win against the English giants, MK Dons’ popularity surge. They came into the match as an unknown. American news site even have to describe who the team is. Now, everyone’s talking about.
Louis van Gaal explained after the Manchester United Loss to MK Dons that they were unlucky during the match. He also said that he won't blame the players for the outcome.
"No [I don't regret the team] because you have to analyse the problem and you have to take your matches. And I have done that and I think the changes were good.
"But it's also risky to change and play one against one and therefore Milton Keynes could score.
"You don't have to forget that we have nine injuries and that we have a very young team.
"I have seen them trying to do their utmost best and more you cannot expect of players."
Despite his explanation, his team was not spared from the mockery and jokes from the internet people. Some big names even jumped in on making fun of the embattled Old Trafford-based club.
