To those who are eagerly waiting for the Blade Runner sequel, just relax because the outcome will surely be worth the wait, at least according to its director Ridley Scott. The 76-year old director talked to Entertainment Weekly and he provided some tidbits regarding the second installment of the multi-awarded 1982 American neo-noir dystopian science fiction film.
"It's written and it's damn good," Scott said of the Blade Runner sequel.
"Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years-despite the accident. So yes, that will happen."
The accident that Ridley is talking about is the one that the Indiana Jones actor suffered while filming the Star Wars: Episode VII. For was hospitalized after receiving an ankle injury and is expected to re-join the production by this month.
Ridley added that the film might start productions "probably" after they finish filming The Martian that features Matt Damon. He said that they might "shoot in Budapest."
"And then we'll probably shoot in Wadi Rum [the desert location he used for Exodus] for Mars. I like Radi Rum - it's the best view I've ever seen of what could be Mars."
The Martian is a movie adaptation of Andy Weir novel of the same name. It is about American astronaut Mark Watney as he becomes stranded alone on Mars and must improvise in order to survive.
Aside from the Blade Runner sequel, Scott also has his hands full with the second installment of 2012 science fiction film Prometheus with the script already written.
Right now, he's busy with Exodus: Gods and Kings, a biblical epic film that stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley. Scott said that spoke highly of his latest project.
"I was knocked out by who he was and the basics of the story-it has to be one of the greatest adventures and spiritual experiences that could ever have been."
