The Ferguson shooting saga has been gripping the United States for almost a month now. On the first week of August, a white police, who was later identified as Darren Wilson, was accused of shooting a black 18-year old male Michael Brown to death. It was said that the police went on to shoot Brown even if the victim already have his hands up as a sign of surrender. This incident has racially divided the country and sparked an unrest and civil disorder at the Ferguson city. The Africa-American community in Ferguson clashed with police, with some residents looting stores. With the incident yet to die down, volunteers and peace advocates are already calling some of the country's most influential figures to intervene.
With the next presidential election drawing near, many people are already wondering why those who aspire for the highest White House seat remains mum over this issue. Not that they encouraging these politicians to use Ferguson shooting issue to promote themselves. They just know that speaking about it would somehow ease up the tension.
According to Huffington Post, "Rev. Al Sharpton called out Clinton, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday, arguing that they lose credibility by refusing to weigh in on the situation in Ferguson."
"I'm amazed that we're not hearing from leading [presidential] candidates -- Chris Christie or [former Florida Gov.] Jeb Bush, or Hillary Clinton," Sharpton said. "This is now a national, central issue, and anyone running for president needs to come up with a formula or -- in my opinion -- they forfeit their right to be taken seriously."
Hillary Clinton was one of those who got ambushed by reporters to speak about the Ferguson shooting unrest. In an account made by Politico, it said that "two reporters called out questions to Clinton about her thoughts on Ferguson after she had wrapped up at Books & Books on Main Street in Westhampton Beach." However, the former secretary of state "ignored the questions and kept walking toward a rear entrance of the book store."
The Huffington Post also reported that a Clinton spokesperson did not respond to a HuffPost request for comment Tuesday. MSNBC also had the same response from Hillary's camp.
