Debuting yesterday, the highly anticipated Fujifilm X30 has now been officially revealed by the Japanese camera manufacturer.
With the recent popularity of smartphones, camera makers have seen a steady decline in the demand of compact cameras. Fuji has responded to this matter by making a camera available to the casual photographer who doesn't want to lug around in a heavy DSLR, but not sacrificing the controls of a manual camera. The X30 offers the choice of capturing images quality images while being small enough to carry anywhere.
X30's features include:
- 12MP 2/3-inch X-Trans II sensor
- Built-in 2.36 million dot OLED EVF
- 28-112mm equivalent F2.0-2.8 zoom lens
- 3-inch tilting rear LCD
- Two lens rings for exposure and zoom control, respectively
- 11-12fps burst mode
- 470-shot CIPA battery rating
Adding to the list an improved a real time electronic viewfinder (reported to have better resolution) and built in Wi-Fi for transferring data to a mobile device. The new model also has a Simulation mode. As the name suggests, it can simulate popular films manufactured by Fuji.
The X30 is built in magnesium alloy to give the top and bottom parts some toughness while a three-dimensional rubber grip keeps the camera from slipping from your hand. The X30 will be available in black and chrome at a retail price of $600 in September.
