Scarlett Johansson's 'Lucy' Tops Box-Office Worldwide; Topples Marvel's 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' To Second Place

Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy" is number one at the foreign box office, beating out the popular space adventure from Marvel, "Guardians of the Galaxy."

"The Guardians of the Galaxy" which is this weekend's box office movie, after reaching $489.5 million among 66 countries worldwide, settled for second place trailing only Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy".

The Marvel film stars Chris Pratt who plays adventurer Peter Quill who steals an orb from a powerful villain and joins a band of misfits such as Gamora, the assassin trained by Thanos himself and played by Zoe Saldana; Drax the Destroyer played by WWE superstar Dave Bautista; Rocket the Raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper, and the popular humanoid Groot voiced by Vin Diesel.

Marvel comics never let the crowd down especially the young generation. Any film based from Marvel stories is expected to be a great hit.

The Marvel film ousted "Thor" which reached $449 million and "Captain America: The First Avenger" which generated $371 million in the box-office..

However, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" is still expected to exceed $500 million in the coming days.

On the other hand, the vengeance themed-film "Lucy" opened at first place in Europe, Middle East, and majority of Asia, particularly Taiwan and Singapore. It notched $216.8 million globally, beating out the Marvel film.

Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy" is about a woman who was drugged into tapping 100% of her brain with unitended consequences.

"Even making it everyday, sort of, you know, brought on its own unique challenges because the character was losing the sense of her own humanity as she's gaining all of these superhuman abilities. So there was kind of no guidelines for that. I never knew what I was going to be stepping into each day. The whole ['Lucy'] shoot had a level of surrealism to it, I suppose." said Scarlett Johansson in a report from The Inquisitr.

According to some reports, there is likely a chance that Marvel will release a film that would star a female role similar as Lucy. Most know that Scarlett Johansson also starred a Marvel film "Avengers" and maybe, Marvel may have to reconsider producing a "Black Widow" movie soon.
