The Blacklist Season 2 Spoiler: Pee-wee Herman's Paul Reubens Join NBC Series For A Role Far From What You’ll Expect

| By

New The Blacklist Season 2 Spoiler has been released and it includes a name you never expected to be in the crime drama. More importantly, that guy will play a role you won't expect seeing him play. Entertainment Weekly wrote that Paul Reubens, who is known for his role as comic fictional character Pee-wee Herman, will be joining the dangerous criminal world of Raymond 'Red' Reddington for multiple episodes. The entertainment news site said that Reubens, who is also known for being the voice of Kokey Smurf in the animated movie The Smurfs, will play Mr. Vargas, "a dapper, finicky muscle who handles delicate situations."

"We're forgoing the bow tie and the bicycle, and it's going to be something totally different, and it's gonna be awesome," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp says.

"It can't get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I've admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I think this will be a fun one. I'd say he's gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red's orbit."

Reubens will first grace the show in the third episode. Aside from this latest the Blacklist Season 2 spoiler, other things we know about the returning show is that Mary-Louise Parker will have a recurring role as Naomi Highlind, a character who is closely tied to James Spader's Reddington.

Spader has also hinted that the second season will be much different from its first installment since they will no longer build a foundation for the characters and the storyline.

"People will see this season is different because we're able to play with things that make a better show, like story and character," Spader informed Playboy (via The Daily Mail).

"We're not building a foundation anymore, which is what we spent last year doing. There are a lot of changes."

"I believe with all my heart that the best way to ruin this character is to tell too much about who and what he is," Spader said, according to The Daily Mail. 'Part of that is a mystery. Just when you think you're getting comfortable, do not get comfortable. Just when you think you have him figured out and you know what the boundaries and safe places are, you're not safe. It's never safe."

The show will return on September 22, 2014.
