Joseph Gordon Levitt-Sandman Film Is Complicated But The Actor Says He Has 'The Right Ideas' For The Book Adaptation

| By

Fact: The Joseph Gordon-Levitt-Sandman collaboration won't happen anytime soon as the people behind the film haven't started shooting. However, according to the American actor who will produce and might direct the movie adaptation of novel written by Neil Gaiman, he already has the right ideas for it. You can expect a strong and great writing of the script as the 34-year old actor said that he is working on it alongside the industry's top screen writers.

"Right now we're working on a script," Gordon-Levitt told Moviefone. "It's me and [David S.] Goyer and the screenwriter [Jack Thorne] and Neil Gaiman, as well as the good folks at DC and Warner Bros. It's a really cool team of people. It's a lot of the same people who worked on the [Christopher] Nolan 'Batman' movies. It's really exciting."

Goyer is the man behind the epic Batman trilogy films, Man of Steel, The Invisible, and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He is also the creator of Starz' hit period fantasy-drama Da Vinci's Demons. Aside from Sandman, Neil Gaiman is also known for novels turned-into-film like Stardust and Beowulf. He also wrote for some episodes in Doctor Who and The Simpsons. Levitt himself has also written for many critically acclaimed projects including the film Don Jon and variety series HitRecord on TV. With this elite-cast for the Joseph Gordon Levitt-Sandman film, it will definitely be worth the wait.

"There's not a script yet, we're still kind of working it out because it's such a complicated adaptation because 'Sandman' wasn't written as novels. Sin City' was written as a novel. 'Sandman' is 75 episodic issues. There's a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt 'Sandman' for the past 20 years."

"We're still in the middle of it, so I don't want to make any claims, but I think we've got the right ideas," he added.

Right now, Levitt is busy promoting his current film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For wherein he stars alongside Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Jude Ciccolella, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis.
