Kevin Love has been the headline of most basketball news for the past months after Cleveland Cavaliers hinted that they would trade players/players to get the services of the Minnesota Timberwolves forward. Now that the deal between the two clubs is almost done, with Cavs expected to ship out their 2014 and 2013 number one drafts picks Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, every player from other clubs should feel relaxed now and think that they're not moving out to another state yet.
Long before Lebron James 'returned home' and pitched in on the Kevin Love saga, there's one team that courted the Wolves office, the Golden State Warriors. The San Francisco-based team reportedly wanted to trade shooting guard Klay Thompson, along with Harrison Barnes and former all-star David Lee. Judging by the Warriors history in keeping players, fans don't easily accept saying goodbye to their players. This time around, it's not just fans who got pissed about that possible trade, even those who were put in the trading block.
According to Bleacher Report's Ric Bucher, some sources told him that Klay Thompson was 'pissed' of the idea that Warriors management is willing to trade him.
"While attempts to reach Lee or his representatives were unsuccessful, a source close to Thompson said the shooting guard is "pissed" that the Warriors legitimately considered moving him."
With that misunderstanding, will Thompson ask for a way out of the Oracle Arena? No. USA Today's Sam Amick said that the 24-year old shooting guard is now seeking a max deal. Since the half of the Splash Brothers is younger than Love, a max deal for him would only start at $15.7 million.
Right now, there's no done deal yet between the Warriors and Thompson's camp but the latter is surely becoming a great asset, even for any team. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Klay Thompson, as well as Brooklyn's Mason Plumlee, are among the favorites of coach Mike Krzyzewski for the USA National team set to compete in the FIBA World Cup in Spain at the end of the month.
