The couple of almost 6 years have apparently separated back in May and have been living apart since then. Sources say that the couple acquired different houses to live in in NYC.
The split was due to an interview Cannon did for Big Boy's radio show, wherein he was asked to name 5 celebrities he has slept with. Nick named five celebs, but the one that got Mariah's temper snapping was when he mentioned Kim Kardashian. Mariah was reportedly distraught, and took it as an insult from Nick and felt extremely humiliated. The relationship never recovered after that.
Rumors say that Mariah kept nagging Nick after that incident, about how she was thrown under the bus, and how embarrassed she was that her husband slept with someone in the likes of Kim Kardashian-someone below Mariah, she believes.
Things went worse when Nick went on the Howard Stern Show and told him that Mariah refused to give up herself to Nick until they got married (which Is totally normal), She went ballistic after that. Sources also claim that the "Honey" songstress felt that Nick left her hanging and abandoned as he kept on taking whatever gig was at the table, this also meaning he had to leave their kids more often. All this when they didn't need the money.
Nick, in turn, is reportedly upset at how Mariah can't handle her temper everytime Nick dares to disagree with her on something. Nick is also rumored to be thinking that Mariah is not agreeing with his work ethic, taking every job that's presented to him without thinking it through, or consulting her about it. He says he's generated $75 Million Dollars on his own for their family in the past 3 years.
Whether Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon get back together or not, the cause of their split is something that happens to everyone who's young and naïve, in which case they are both not.
