Turns out their thing was just a summer fling. Rodriguez and Efron were previously reported to have been dating, after several photos of them kissing and vacationing with a bunch of friends in a yacht in Sardinia surfaced online. The dating rumors were re-confirmed with another set of photos of them smooching and being extra sweet during a party in Ibiza.
According to sources, "It had just been a casual hookup for Zac and Michelle. They were having fun," adding, "She is such a great person and he naturally gravitated towards that. They saw comfort in each other and connected on their experiences in rehab and were really good for each other." After being asked about how Efron and Rodriguez dealt with the fact that they both just recently got out of rehab, the source mentioned: "They were there for each other."
But apparently, the relationship had to sizzle down, with the two just considering their thing to be just a fling, nothing serious. Especially with reports that Rodriguez "couldn't stop talking about Cara". This pertains to Rodriguez's ex, Supermodel, Social media queen, Cara Delevigne. According to sources, Delevigne and Rodriguez are still very much the best of friends and even share the same set of friends, hang out at the same places, and pretty much still see each other more often than not.
"Cara would spend time on the same boat and Cara and Michelle have all the same friends. It was just a lot. It was always, 'Cara, Cara, Cara.'" The source added: "They are clearly best friends and they have never stopped talking to each other," our source says. "Michelle is very mature. She wants everyone to be happy." Michelle is now back in New York and Cara is, you guessed it, back in town with her.
Zac, on the other hand, has been doing pretty good on his own, recently just doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and challenging his friend Robert Pattinson.
So much for hoping Zac and Michelle would turn out to be in a long-term relationship.
