Hollywood comedy actor Billy Crystal will honor and give tribute to his friend and Father's Day co-star Robin Williams during the 2014 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday.
According to E! Online, the Emmy Awards producer Don Mischer announced the news Saturday, stating, "We felt we needed to do something powerful and memorable. Billy seemed like the perfect choice."
In a statement, Mischer divulged that they were still discussing the plans for the In Memoriam segment of the 2014 Emmy Awards show. "While we are all still coming to terms with this week's tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves," he said.
During the time when the news about Robin Williams' death broke out, Hollywood comedy actor Billy Crystal never released a formal statement, and instead, expressed his grief over Twitter and wrote, "No words."
Crystal and Williams became real friends after working together on the film, "Father's Day," in 1997. The comedy duo also had a cameo appearance in one of the episodes of the hit series, "F.R.I.E.N.D.S." Together with another comedian, Whoopi Goldberg, they formed an awe-inspiring trio performing for Comic Relief standup specials and effectively raising some $80 million for the poor and homeless people.
Comic Relief creator Bob Zmuda told The Los Angeles Times how Williams chose to help the homeless.
"When we started, we had to figure out what would be a suitable cause. Nobody was more adamant than Robin that it should help the homeless," he said, adding, "Robin came from a family with money-he was brought up with a silver spoon in his mouth, and I think he felt so blessed that he wanted to do something for people who weren't brought up like that."
The 2014 Emmy Awards would the first time that the 66-year-old Hollywood comedy actor Billy Crystal would talk about his friend and co-star Robin Williams after his death.
Robin Williams was found dead at his home in California on August 11 after committing suicide.
