2014 has seen two successful reboots in Godzilla and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Adding to that list in November is the long promised reunion of Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber To.
Also back on the film are the original Dumb and Dumber directors Bobby and Peter Farelly of Something About Mary and Kingpin fame.
The movie's marketing has gone quiet since the summer blockbuster season, making their debut at Scarlett Johansson's super hero hit Lucy with a parody of the poster, along with a rephrasing of that movie's tagline "The average person uses 10% of their brain capacity. Imagine what he could do with 1%."
Recently, Daniels and Carrey uploaded the sequel's poster on their Twitter accounts:
Carrey in an interview via abc7.com answers questions on what filming "Dumb and Dumber: To" has been like:
"We're having so much fun. It's like, more fun than it was before. We're just having a blast, so everybody's getting back into the stuff and it just feels so good to have a character that only wears one thing all the time. Makes things real easy. It's great."
"Jeff and I are having a blast and the Farrelly brothers are nuts. They're completely insane and you look around and everybody's the same, the whole crew -- they just drag everybody along. It's like the caravan of fun. It's cool."
They also released a trailer where we find Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) twenty years after the events of the first installment, discovering that Harry has a long lost daughter, who Lloyd happens to be infatuated with. Another road trip in their 'dog wagon' ensues as they hit the road to meet her.
Early reactions to the sequel have mostly been positive, with a particular note that this is something of a comeback for Carrey, who has been involved with political scandal concerning his work in 2013's Kick-Ass 2 where he publicly denounced the movie's violence and refused to promote the film. Meanwhile, Daniels is making a full 180 from his dramatic role in HBO's The Newsroom.
Also joining Carrey and Daniels is Laurie Holden of The Walking Dead, Rob Riggle of 22 Jump Street and Kathleen Turner.
Dumb and Dumber 2 release date is on November 14.
