The Legend Of Zelda Wii U Release Date 2014; Goes Open World, Three More Zelda Games In The Works

| By

Seen in its E3 2014 presentation, The Legend of Zelda is expanding its series to an 'open world' platform. Fans of the blue-eyed Link and Co. won't be releasing in 2015 despite popular rumors that have been circulating recently, it will come out in 2016. But fans be pleased to hear Nintendo's latest news as they have announced that they are working on three Zelda games right now. This suggests two console games: Zelda Wii U and Hyrule Warriors, and Zelda series' return on the Nintendo 3DS.

Talks of the developing games game up in Nintendo's annual shareholder meeting. Questions about Zelda Wii U release date naturally came up, since it was one of their most popular franchises. Nintendo game designer Miyamoto Shigeru responded to the queries: " Although this Annual General Meeting of Shareholders is a special opportunity, I am afraid I cannot give you any information other than what has been officially announced."

But he proceeded still, to give out details more that what has been officially announced:

"At the halfway point to achieving this goal, we released "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds" for Nintendo 3DS last year. We created the games in the traditional "The Legend of Zelda" series in steps that players could easily understand and follow; the player would obtain a new item in each dungeon, use the item to clear that dungeon and be able to enjoy applying the items in different ways after acquiring about eight items. However, in "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds," we broke that down and let the player rent different items from the beginning, so the player could use different combinations of items. In this way, we are gradually changing the structure of "The Legend of Zelda" series, and we are preparing to newly evolve the series for Wii U. In addition to that, we have ideas for Nintendo 3DS which we have not announced yet, so I hope you will look forward to them."

Although some of the details remain vague as of the moment, we can confirm that the new Zelda will really be an open world based game. Expect The Legend of Zelda Wii U release date sometime in 2016.
