James Franco and Lana del Rey have been rumored to be dating for a few months now.
Instead of debunking said rumors, the "Palo Alto" star recently posted a photo of him and the "Born to Die" singer on his public Instagram account, with the caption: "Oh snap, we got married. JUST KIDDING!!!" Despite the caption being an obvious joke, this still caused more speculations about the two artists' possible relationship.
Rumors began after Del Rey, who has broken up with his latest boyfriend, Barry James O'Neill last June, visited Franco backstage during his Broadway performance of "Of Mice and Men". During which Franco posted a photo of him and Del Rey backstage with the caption, "LANA DEL REY and CHICKEN came to the show AND LOVED!" To add more fuel to the fire, she also attended the premiere of "Child of God", a movie that James Franco himself directed, and even went to the after party with friends in Franco's hotel room at the Tribeca Grand.
Lana Del Rey has not been seen posting any photos of them together, probably because she's letting Franco do all stirring. Or maybe she'll pull a Taylor Swift and put it in an upcoming song of hers. Nevertheless, her presence in his film premier and Broadway show, including the after party in his own hotel room, already says a lot about their possible relationship. And the fact that Franco continues his share of cryptic posts online leads fans to speculate more. He has been recently promoting Del Rey's career by posting the singer's Rolling Stone cover on his Instagram account. Apart from that, he also told his followers that he's "OBSESSED with the RIDE video!"
Rumors from other sources says that James Franco and Lana Del Rey have been "Hanging out and talking a lot", and that the "This is the End" actor sees the "Ride" songstress as "fascinating". This concludes the source saying that at the rate the two are going, romantically, "It could go there".
Perhaps the jokingly Instagram posts are actually Franco's way of confirming the rumors, we may or may not know this to be a fact. But in the weeks to come, there's a possibility that fans might see Del Rey on Franco's social media account more often, if the rumors are indeed true, or if they're both just doing a stint together, and just promoting it in a buzz-worthy kind of way. Who knows? Fans might find out soon enough.
