Florida Father Reportedly Ends Son's Life For Crying During His Video Game Playing and TV Watching

A 24 year-old father in Citrus County Fla. reportedly killed his son so he would be able to keep playing video games. NBC television affiliate in Tampa reported Thursday.

Cody Eugene Wygant, 24 faces third degree murder and willful child neglect for his reported role in his one year-old son's Daymeon Wygant death according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office WFLA reported.

The child was transported to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center Thursday morning when he was pronounced dead after the incident that reportedly was due to Wygant's annoyance over Daymeon's crying.

Wygant admitted to reportedly making Daymeon unable to breath so Cody could keep competing in Microsoft Xbox video games according to information from Wygant's dialogue with detectives WFLA reported.

Wygant reportedly covered Daymeon's mouth and nose with his hands for three to minutes according to the arrest report WFLA reported.

Wygant then reportedly placed his son in his playpen with bedding positioning the covers to prevent Daymeon from breathing according the arrest report WFLA reported.

According to investigators as reported by WFLA, Wygant then viewed three shows of Fringe for five hours at which time he saw his son was blue, not breathing, and not responding.

"It is inconceivable that a father could kill his infant son --it just baffles the mind," Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said in a press release NBC television affiliate WFLA in Citrus County, Fla. said in a statement. "Our only sense of relief now comes from knowing that we did exactly what we needed to do to bring justice to him swiftly. Our prayers go out to those who knew and loved Daymeon."

Wygant's three month old daughter who he also has with his girlfriend is with the Department of Children and Families WFLA reported. Wygant is reportedly also Daymeon's main guardian

According to Fox television affiliate WGHP in High Point, N.C.Wygant's girlfriend was not home when the incident occurred.
