The Los Angeles Police Department has added a Lamborghini Gallardo to their fleet of vehicles.
The 2014 Lamborghini starts with a price of $182,000 and is featured in traditional black and white paint, according to Daily Mail. "To Protect and to Serve" is written on the sides.
The vehicle will be included in the LAPD's Rampart Division, MSN reported. The division introduced the car in a photo with the message "You can run, but you can't hide."
The LAPD received the Gallardo as a donation from Travis and Nathalie Marg, the owners of the fiber optics company Light Source 1. The vehicle will not be used in any pursuits, since it serves as a temporary donation to be featured at charity events for the LAPD Air Support Team, Motor Authority reported.
The vehicle has been given the name "LAPD Lambo", and has gained a lot of attention in Los Angeles. The vehicle has its own website as well as its own Twitter and Instagram accounts. The @LAPDLambo Twitter account is written from the Gallardo's perspective, and has sent out a message to the public saying that it won't be on patrol, according to MSN.
Dubai is the home of the most out-of-the-ordinary police cars to date. Dubai's police force has one of the most expensive collections of vehicles in the world, including a Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Ferrari FF, and an Aston Martin One-77. The U.K. used to have the most unique police vehicles with cars such as Ford Escort Cosworths and RS200s, Lotus Evoras, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, and currently a Caparo T1, MSN reported.
The U.S. has used high-powered vehicles as eye-candy and for actual police work in the past, MSN reported. These cars, most of which were American, include the Cadillac CTS-V pursuit car in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Chevrolets in several states and a Dodge Viper.
The LAPD Lambo will be available for Los Angeles residents to see at the Los Angeles County Air Show on March 21 and 22.
