Apple hopes its latest modifications to its basic iPad and iPhone devices can keep stride with products that have Google's Android operating system, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
The iPad now has a faster processor, wireless connectivity, and a clearer display all for the same $399 and $529 devices they were before the upgrades The Journal reported.
The $399 mobile device is Apple's Wi-Fi model, with the device with Wi-Fi and cell capabilities costing $529.
Consumers can buy the eight gigabyte version of Apple's iPhone 5C on China Mobile for 4,088 yuan or $660 in the United States. This does not include a contract. The 16 gigabyte goes for 4,488.
The eight gigabyte version of the phone goes for $429 pounds in the United Kingdom or $711 in the United States.
The sixteen gigabyte version costs 469 pounds, with no obligation to a contract required.
The iPhones hit the market in China Jan. 17, and have since sold over 100,000 Investors Business Daily reported. China Unicom's 150,000, and China Telecom's 120,000 Investors Business Daily reported Monday.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology gave 4G licenses to China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom in early December Information Week reported. This has led to the company being able to offer the smartphone Information Week reported. The acquisition created the opportunity for Apple to become a part of Apple's vast list of subscribers that is seven times the size than its competitor Verizon, the most prominent mobile company size wise Information Week reported.
