Proctor and Gamble's Oral-B smartphone toothbrush will help brushers become better at the task.
The toothbrush will become available in June and be equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 technology that consumers can connect to a smartphone app, which dentists can configure Reuters reported.
"The app provides real-time guidance," Michael Cohen-Dumani, global associate director at Oral-B told Reuters.
Consumers will get a first-hand look at the brush when it's introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Feb. 24, 25, 26, and 27.
"Dentists always tell us: people do a great job in the week before they come to visit us and in the week after they visit us. But nothing can hide the fact that when we look inside the mouth we can see all the areas they miss," Michael Cohen-Dumani, global associate director at Oral-B told Reuters. "It will guide you in terms of how to brush, and you will be able to fully personalize the brushing routine for you," Cohen-Dumani told Reuters.
The brush will cost 199 pounds in British currency or $330, and 219 euros in european currency.
Consumers will be able to tell how much progress they have made when brushing, the appropriate time to switch to another area of their mouth, and letting them know if they are aggressively brushing Reuters reported.
Product evaluations found consumers could brush for two minutes 16 seconds compared to shorter than a minute for regular brushes Reuters reported.
Kolibree unveiled the $99 to $200 brush at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Prices vary based on the type purchased CNN reported.
Consumers use the brush via a mobile app and blue tooth from their smartphone device CNN reported. The brush then keeps tallies about the length of time someone brushes, what parts of their mouth someone cleans, and how they brush including up and down or side to side.
