An 84-year-old Brazilian woman has held a 44-year-old baby inside her for the past four decades and some change.
The woman who is not being identified entered a hospital in Natividade, Brazil, located in the Brazilian state of Tocantins because of very bad stomach pains, and dizziness The Daily Mail reported Friday.
Medical staff then found the being, also known as a stone baby after X-raying the woman. The baby was 20 to 28 weeks old prompting medical professionals to send her to Porto Nacional Hospital located by Palmas, Tocantin, Brazil to undergo more medical examinations.
"It"s supernatural, but she has not had any complications," Saraiva Kratka, a gynaecologist at the Porto Nacional Hospital told The Daily Mail.
"We are going to perform some new tests, scans to see more details and then we will speak with her relatives to see if they allow us to operate. Her stomach didn't grow any more, the baby stopped moving and she thought it had been aborted," Kratka told The Daily Mail via Brazil news site G1.
"Through ultrasound it was not possible to see the feutus," Kratka told The Daily Mail. "We saw it with X-rays. It was possible to see the face, the bones of the arms, of the legs, the ribs and the spine," Kratka told The Daily Mail.
"We are going to perform some new tests, scans to see more details and then we will speak with her relatives to see if they allow us to operate," Kratka told The Daily Mail.
The woman has no plans to remove the fetus from her body, but Kraftka wanted to persuade her into thinking and doing otherwise so no other health issues come up The Daily Mail reported.
According to The Daily Mail, a witch doctor in the woman's village previously gave her medicine that made her well after she experienced agonizing pain when other medical professionals were not available.
