Wind Mobile's new low cost unlimited United States roaming plan was unveiled Thursday.
Consumers can sign-up for the new plan for $15 in Canada or $13.42 a month Reuters reported.
"While wireless prices in the Canadian marketplace remain very high, we at Wind Mobile continue to challenge expectations and offer our customers real value," Pietro Cordova chief operating officer at Wind Mobile said in a statement.
The plan competes with Rogers Communications Inc., BCE Inc's Bell, and Telus Corp, all bigger phone companies with higher prices told Reuters.
"(It will) probably succeed in dropping roaming rates somewhat, however I'm pretty dubious about this driving subscriber growth," Cordova said in the statement.
It is not known if the competitors would be changing their current plans as a result of Wind Mobile's newest one Reuters reported.
Rogers currently offers talk, text, and data for $40 a month Reuters reported. Consumers can also get $50 of talk, 200 megabytes for data use, and limitless data for sending text messages.
Bell offers extra talk, and text options for $20 each in Canada Reuters reported. The carrier also has $30 in Canadian currency for talking, and texting combined.
These include 100 minutes for placing calls and their duration. Consumers can also send 1,000 text messages, and also receive an endless amount Reuters reported.
Another option includes 500 megabytes for $50 in Canadian currency Reuters reported.
Telus Corp. has 300 minutes for talk, 300 megabytes of data, and limitless data for sending text messages.
Over 650,000 people have Wind Mobile plans in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia compared to between seven million and 9.5 million mobile customers.
Wind Mobile's CEO Anthony Lacavera has 35 percent of the company's shares CBC News reported in a Sept, 17 article.
"Obviously, there has been a very rapid evolution of smartphones," Anthony Lacavera, Wind Mobile CEO told CBC News at the time. "We're now in a position where we need a lot more spectrum to service demand."
