Enrique Marquez almost immediately confessed his participation to the California massacre that killed 14 people to a 911 operator and his mother. Distraught, he spent a few days in a hospital psychiatric ward before meeting up with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

He was arrested and charged with conspiring to support terrorists.

Enrique Marquez bought the AR-15-style rifles and smokeless powder that Farook used for pipe bombs to kill 14 people in the recent California massacre according to documents filed in Federal District Court.

"Mr. Marquez conspired with Mr. Farook to commit vicious attacks, as set forth in today's charges. Even though these plans were not carried out, Mr. Marquez's criminal conduct deeply affected San Bernardino County, Southern California and the entire United States when the guns purchased by Marquez were used to kill 14 innocent people and wound many others," Eileen M. Decker, United States attorney, said in a report by The New York Times.

On Nov 5, Marquez posted on his Facebook account "No one knows really knows me, I lead multiple lives and I'm wondering when it is all going to collapse on me" according to NBC News.

Another Facebook user replied that everyone leads multiple lives. "Involved in terrorist plots, drugs, antisocial behavior, marriage, might go to prison for fraud, etc," Marquez wrote back.

Marquez was converted to Islam in 2007 and was radicalized by hate preacher Anwar al-Awlaki. He is believed to receive $200 a month for a fictitious marriage to Mariya Chernykh, sister of the wife of Farook's brother. The arrangement was made so they can get immigration benefits according to Daily Mail.

Marquez and Chernykh were supposed to meet with the immigration officials last Dec 3. Online messages revealed that he was apprehensive with the upcoming meeting.

"Just a little anxious and want to chat about the interview," he wrote to Chernykh according to ABC7.

"OMG!! Enrique, I'm the one freaking out here!!! Relax I'll see you Monday and we'll talk," she resplied.

In 2011 and 2012, Enrique Marquez, 24 years old, and his friend and neighbor Syed Rizwan Farook planned to launch attacks on the school they attended in California.
