A follow-up to NetherRealm's "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is reportedly in the works.
And while the release date to "Injustice 2" has yet to be announced, many are expecting the sequel to the hit game to coincide with Warner Bros. upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
"There is no doubt that a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us would sell well regardless of when it releases, but with there certainly being no tie-in game to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would make absolute sense to release Injustice 2 next March or April," the publication stated.
The publication also added, "This would put it out either right before or right after in a slot that NetherRealm loves, with Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Mortal Kombat X all releasing in the same time period."
While waiting for the official release date announcement, there have been speculations as to what characters will be added in the upcoming sequel.
Key DC characters including Captain Atom, Vixen and Black Canary are said to be making their debut in "Injustice 2."
Kdramastars added that new characters like Red Hood and Amazo could also be introduced in the lineup.
As for Den of Geek the top 10 characters which would most likely make it to "Injustice 2" would include Static, Poison Ivy, The Shade, Supergirl, Bleez, Red Hood, Captain Cold, Booster Gold and Amazo as well as the Evil Batman.
Despite the growing number of speculations, it should be noted that everything should be taken with a large grain of salt as NetherRealm has yet to provide and details on the said "Injustice 2" characters.
However, iDigital Times noted that president Ed Boon has reportedly teased fans via Twitter.
"@Official_AIAS @noobde :( Hope you can make it next year! EB: Absolutely! ......unless we ship a game in April 2016 ;)," Boon tweeted.
