Asus ZenWatch 2 Hits UK Market As Currys Exclusive; £149 Price Tag For Android Wear Smartwatch

| By

The Asus ZenWatch 2 is now available in the UK via Currys PC World priced at £149.99, in time for the holidays.

Earlier this week, Asus UK broke the news through their official Twitter account.

The ZenWatch 2 can be purchased both from Currys' website and their brick-and-mortar stores.

The Taiwanese tech firm delivered on its promise to bring their latest Android Wear smartwatch to the UK market, earlier this month.

Two different versions were unveiled back in Sept. Among them, Currys made the larger WI501Q model available, Android Headlines reported.

According to specs listed in GSM Arena, that ZenWatch 2 model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 305 GPU. There's 512MB of RAM with 4GB of built-in storage.

The device has a 1.63-inch 320 x 320p display and a non-removable 400 mAh battery - said to be good for up to two days. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g.

For £150, users also get IP67 certification, stainless steel construction and three color options - Rose Gold, Gunmetal and Silver.

The rest of Europe already got their hands on the Asus ZenWatch 2 back in Oct. where its pricing undercut its watchOS and Android Wear rivals. It also went on sale for the US market in the same month.

"With the promise of timely delivery ahead of the festive season, the smartwatch certainly will have its admirers, seeing as the company's ZenFone 2 has gone on to become one of the most-loved devices in its category this year," AH said.

Per the website, the ZenWatch 2 is currently a Currys exclusive in the UK. It's unknown when other retailers will offer the smartwatch in their own storefronts.

Currys PC World is retailing the Asus ZenWatch 2 for £149.99 through online ordering with next-day delivery or in-store pick-up.
