By now, every avid "The Big Bang Theory" fan knows about this week's episode, which will feature Sheldon and Amy's very first sex scene.
Perhaps it's because Sheldon and Amy is one of the few non-sexual couples on TV that their first coitus (a.k.a sex) has been considered a big TV sitcom event.
Recently, "The Big Bang Theory" cast members, Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) and Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) shared their thoughts on the big, bold move their characters are taking in their relationship.
"I never imagined it, because I would never predict almost anything the writers have done in the way they've done it," Jim Parsons admitted to Entertainment Weekly. "But I do think what they did with this is really skillfully handled."
On the other hand, Mayim Bialik admitted she didn't expect Sheldon and Amy to have an actual "bed scene" and said she was surprised by fans asking when their characters will finally do it.
"Even though it's just a character, it's like asking about someone's virginity," Bialik said. "So to me it feels like kind of a private thing for the characters to go through, however privately the writers choose to have them go through it."
She added, "It's really special to us that we've had a relationship that is the longest-running nonsexual romantic relationship you've seen on TV."
Asked how they think "Big Bang Theory" fans will respond of the said moment with Sheldon and Amy, Bialik said: "Some may need to be hospitalized with excitement, we're told."
"I don't know but what I enjoy so much about it is that it's not at all alienating," Parson said.
A few days ago, "The Big Bang Theory" executive producer hinted that Sheldon and Amy's relationship will continue to grow and may be heading towards the altar.
"Nothing is off the table," Chuck Lorre told Fox411. "The show continues to grow in ways I never would have anticipated."
"So... sure. Maybe," Lorre said of a possibly, a third "Big Bang Theory" wedding. "Certainly not no or never."
