"John Wick 2" is set to become a "Matrix" mini reunion as Keanu Reeves is joined by his "The Matrix" trilogy co-actor Laurence Fishburne.
Gothamist, in its Twitter post, recently published an image of Keanu Reeves, who is spotted in the set of "John Wick 2" with Laurence Fishburne. The image was accompanied with the caption: "Photos: Keanu Reeves & Laurence Fishburne Filming John Wick 2 in Brooklyn"
Being part of the cast, Laurence Fishburne is set to join returning cast Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, and Ian McShane. He will also join new cast Common, Ruby Rose and Peter Stormare.
SlashFilm, in its report however, said that since Laurence Fishburne's appearance for "John Wick 2" is not yet publicly announced, his stint may be limited to a cameo. The report added that this is not the only link between "John Wick" and "The Matrix" because "John Wick 2" director Chad Stahelski was Reeves' stunt double on the first "Matrix" film and eventually became the stunt coordinator in the sequels. Also, David Leith, the co-director in "John Wick," who is helping produce "John Wick 2," was also involved in the stunt works of "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolution."
Fishburne's character is still kept under the wraps and all we know, so far, is that Common will play the sequel's villain and he works for a female crime lord, who is speculated to be the role of "Orange is the New Black" star Ruby Rose.
Keanu Reeves also recently spoke about the sequel, saying, "I think we have a really good premise, and it's an organic premise. It's basically-to me there's John Wick and then there's John. You know, John is the married guy whose wife just died, and that five years of his life. Then there's John Wick, who's the mythical assassin. In this, John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John."
