While many were left broken hearted when Cote de Pablo decided to leave "NCIS" two years ago, fans could be in for a great surprise in season 13.
Could Ziva Davis rekindle her romance with Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo?
While there hasn't been any formal announcement yet, many viewers are hoping that showrunner Gary Glasberg's recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter is pointing to the return of the well-loved character.
"Down the road, we'll continue to delve into the love life of Tony DiNozzo," the executive teased.
He added that "there might be some surprises for people a little further down the road into the season on that one, especially for our diehard fans."
But when asked if a "familiar face," just like Cote de Pablo's Ziva David, is going to make a comeback on "NCIS" season 13, Glasberg tried to play coy.
"I don't know!" he exclaimed. "We'll have to see what unfolds."
"I'm not going to say a word - I'm just going to say we'll definitely be getting into DiNozzo's love life," he added.
While he refused to reveal details about Ziva's possible return he did mention that "Margo Harshman will be back playing Delilah, and McGee (Sean Murray) has moved in with her, and that relationship will continue."
"She's been a wonderful guest for us, and we're excited to have her back."
And if Cote de Pablo would be asked, she admitted in an interview with TVLine, that her exit from "NCIS" could have been "rushed."
"I think the fact that they never killed the character off is very telling," the 35-year-old Chilean-American actress said, probably hinting her possible comeback in "NCIS" season 13. "Under the right circumstances, I think it could definitely be explored."
"I would have liked a little bit of closure," she added.
"But I think all in all I could not be more blessed, because I got a chance to be with my 'love,' Michael [Weatherly, who plays Tony]. Any time you put Michael and I together there's going to be a spark, and there's going to be real honesty, and for that I am forever grateful. Because in that sense there was a sense of conclusion as far as what [the characters] felt for each other."
Michael Weatherly on the other hand, teased that there will be exciting guest stars that will leave fans at the edge of their seats in "NCIS" season 13.
"I have come to understand that there will be, later in the year, some guest stars that will melt the avid NCIS viewer's brain," he told TVLine
He evern recently shared a poto of director Dennis Smith on his Twitter account featuring him together with Cote de Pablo.
