Tom Hardy has found a way of channeling his anger and frustration from losing the key role as Rick Flag in the upcoming comic book film, "Suicide Squad," by venting it out in his role as John Fitzgerald for "The Revenant."
In his recent interview with Variety where he discussed about his upcoming historical film, Leonardo DiCaprio-starring "The Revenant," Tom Hardy also talked about being really bummed out with losing his "Suicide Squad" role consequently because of production issues in "The Revenant."
"It punched right into that, yeah. That got derailed for me," Tom Hardy told Variety.
"Was I bummed? Of course, I was. I hate f-king losing work. I kept bemoaning that they were losing me significant money on a daily basis. Actually, it was good for my character."
According to Den of Geek!, in its report, "The Revenant" had to suffer a "notoriously difficult shoot" because of the demands of the "Birdman" director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who is renowned for being really meticulous and ambitious in helming films.
The report added that the lack of snow in Calgary, Alberta, Canada had cost the production months of delay as they had to reshoot in other locations. The production, accordingly, resumed months later in Argentina. It consequently caused director Inarrituto overshoot "The Revenant" and unfortunately costing Tom Hardy the key role as Rick Flag in "Suicide Squad," which ended up with "Robocop" remake star Joel Kinnaman.
Tom Hardy, on the other hand, thought that losing the character was "good for his character," as he decided to channel his frustrations and anger towards his traitorous and vengeance-filled character, John Fitzgerald.
But were the rumors true about Tom Hardy punching director Inarritu in the set? "No. if you hit somebody, you'd know about it," the actor denied.
"That didn't happen. That's just nonsense"
