An Ohio man was initially kicked out of a movie theater Saturday for wearing Google Glass connected eyewear while watching "Shadow Recruit" starring Jack Ryan Tech Times reported Wednesday.
"On Jan. 18, special agents with ICE's Homeland Security Investigations and local authorities briefly interviewed a man suspected of using an electronic recording device to record a film at an AMC theater in Columbus," Khaalid Walls, a spokesman with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement told The Columbus Dispatch. "The man, who voluntarily answered questions, confirmed to authorities that the suspected recording device was also a pair of prescription eye glasses in which the recording function had been inactive. No further action was taken," Walls told The Dispatch.
The incident was the second since a California woman's case for reportedly wearing Google Glass while driving was thrown out.
"While we're huge fans of technology and innovation, wearing a device that has the capability to record video is not appropriate at the movie theater," Ryan Noonan, spokesperson at AMC Theatre's said in a statement Tech Times reported.
A woman's Google Glass case for reportedly driving with the device in California was thrown out due to a lack of evidence Reuters reported.
Cecilia Abadie, who Fox News described as a self-described geek and Google Glass pioneer, was reportedly wearing the new connected eyewear when she was pulled over in what was a first for the new connected eyewear device.
Abadie, was cited for suspicion of going 80 mph in a 65 mph speed limit zone, and driving while wearing the high-tech frames Oct. 30 The Associated Press reported. She was also cited for wearing Google Glass as a visual monitor, however there was no proof the device was actually on Reuters reported.
