Kate Middleton Wears Princess Diana's Iconic Tiara!

| By

In a post and a number of photos on Just Jared, Kate Middleton is seen wearing her mother-in-law, the late Princess Diana's, iconic tiara in the back seat of a car as she turns up at Buckingham Palace for a diplomatic reception on Tuesday, Dec. 8, in London, England.

This is the first time that Kate Middleton has worn Princess Diana's favorite tiara to a gala event.

The diamond and pearl-studded tiara, named as Cambridge Lover's Knot, is arguably the late princess' well-loved tiara. The said tiara was worn to the Queen's annual Diplomatic Reception and the first time she donned the particular headpiece, according to Hollywood Life.

The Duchess has also worn Diana's sapphire and diamond engagement ring but that was a gift to her from when William proposed for marriage.

In total, this is the fourth time that Kate Middleton, the duchess of Cambridge, has worn a tiara like a true princess to a formal event.

The first one she ever did wear was on her wedding when she sported the Cartier Halo tiara back in 2011. She has also worn the Lotus Flower tiara twice - first to the Diplomat's reception in 2013 and again just this October for a state banquet between Queen Elizabeth II and Xi Jinping, the president of China.

The beautiful Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara has an amazaing story; it was originally made for then Queen Mary more than a century ago in 1914 with pearls and diamonds that were already in the family's possession.

Mary then turned the tiara in to Queen Elizabeth II who wore it frequently during her younger years as a monarch before Princess Diana made it iconic.

While married to Prince Charles, the princess of Wales wore it most of the time, making the tiara one of her most famous accessories and had always been a part of her charming style. Then from Princess Diana, the crown is now worn by the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.
