'Outlander' Season 2 Casting News: Show Close To Finding Actress For Brianna Role

| By

"Outlander" season 2 cast is bigger and the characters look more glamorous.

Jamie and Claire will mingle with the royal ones from France and Scotland for the Starz TV series' sophomore run.

All these new cast will surely add new flavor to the hit 2015 show.

However, the one most fans are looking forward to is yet to be named.

Brianna MacKenzie, the second daughter of Claire and Jamie from the book where the show is based from, is revealed to be part of "Outlander" season 2 cast and it made many fans really excited.

Fans have made their own casting for this particular character but show's producer and showrunners are yet to drop a name.

EP Ronald Moore says they are getting close to finding the actress who will play Brianna.

"Hopefully we'll be announcing soon. We're getting close. But it's a tough part to cast and it's just taking a while," he told E! Online.

Brianna's characteristics are very specific when her arrival to "Outlander" TV series was announced but Moore said they are open to casting "well-known" actors for the role although it is not their priority.

"We haven't been really looking for a name per se. I think we're open to it but it hasn't really been our focus," he added.

Among those who fans voted to play Brianna is "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner but the British actress said it is not happening because she wants to stay with her first love, the HBO series.

"Somebody mentioned [the role] to me when I was on a red carpet somewhere, that I'd make a great Brianna, and I think the guy Sam retweeted it or something," Turner told EW. "So people started talking like I was in it. I've never seen the show. I'm sure it's great, but I'm loyal to my one true love!"

"Outlander" season 2 release date is around March or April next year.

Aside from returning Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, other new cast members are Dominique Pinon as Master Raymond, Audrey Brisson as Sister Angelique, Lionel Lingelser as King Louis XV of France, Romann Berrux as Fergus, and Marc Duret as Joseph Duverney.
