Filling in the shoes of Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield in the "Spider-Man" reboot is such a huge thing and Tom Holland was the chosen one.
During an interview with The Daily Beast, the 19-year-old actor revealed that he found out that he got the role on Marvel's website.
"I learned about it online with everybody else, and I just went bananas", he said.
The star of "In the Heart of the Sea" also got a call from Kevin Feige who confirmed that he will appear first in "Captain America: Civil War" alongside Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.
The first two "Spider-Man" series have their own unique approach to the story of Peter Parker and many fans are wondering what they could expect in the reboot that would make it stand out from the previous films.
"It's not 'The Dark Knight.' One of the special things about what we're going to try and create is that you're going to see the biggest independent film ever", Tom Holland revealed. "It's not going to be an epic thing; it's going to be a film surrounded by these incredible things, but that follows this boy and his life."
Based on previous reports, the "Spider-Man" reboot will have a high school setting that's why Marvel chose a young actor to portray the part.
"Peter Parker is a favourite of many because everyone can relate to him, and we're going to try to make everyone relate to our Peter Parker," the British actor explained. "And John Hughes is a perfect example of what we're going to try and do."
It seems that there will be less special effects in this movie that's why the producers chose Tom Holland because of his acrobatic skills. During an interview with The Irish Examiner, the teenage actor revealed how he got the part of Peter Parker.
"I basically did a somersault into frame and a somersault out of frame and I was like, 'They may never see this but if they do I need them to know that I've got some gymnastics abilities and stuff," he said.
"And every tape I sent in I always did a little acrobatic demo to try and convince them to give me the role." All of Tom Holland's efforts paid off because he will now headline the "Spider-Man" reboot in 2017.
