President Barack Obama revealed that one of his favorite books is "Fates and Furies" by Lauren Groff.
Entertainment Weekly says the book is about a "young married couple who seem to have it all in the eyes of their friends, but struggle to keep it together behind closed doors."
Naturally, Groff was ecstatic the president of the United States of America chose her books as his favorite.
"Never, even in my most grandiose dreams, did I think the president would read my book, let alone like it," Groff said according to a report by The Economic Times.
"I just died, came back to life, read again, died again," Groff posted on Twitter.
Published by Riverhead Books, one of Barack Obama's favorite books, "Fates and Furies," was a finalist for the National Book Award and has appeared on numerous lists of the year's best books. It is also Amazon's pick for book of the year according to Observer Innovation.
As expected, Obama gives big boost to book sales over his seven years in office. Literary agents now compare Obama's influence to Oprah.
"There's Oprah and now Obama. Those are the two titans. But it's more than just influence. It's also respect and trust. Here you have a sitting president who's not only trained as a legal scholar but also a New York Times best-selling author. His credibility and trust is extraordinarily high when it comes to book recommendations," Henry Yoon, literary agent, said in a report by Politico.
The sales of novel "Netherland" rose by 40 per cent when Obama mentioned it in The New York Times magazine that he was reading book.
But author Joseph O'Neill was not very happy with the endorsement.
"Barack Obama did not transport me into some world of cocktails and parties and fancy suits. It just doesn't work that way, does it?"
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama said "The Light of the World" by Elizabeth Alexander is her favorite book of the year which is about the unexpected death of Alexander's husband in 2012 and raising their two sons.
Noticeably, Barack and Michelle Obama's favorite books have marriage as a common theme.
