Ronda Rousey's Next Fight Confirmed? Fallen Fighter To Get Rematch With Holly Holm Next Year

| By

There were reports that Ronda Rousey - Holly Holm rematch in UFC might not happen with other fighters hoping to fight the latter in the octagon, too.

Fans can rest their worries now as reports claim that the rematch will officially happen next year.

UFC president Dana White also confirmed that Ronda Rousey - Holly Holm rematch is indeed happening.

"It's Rousey," he said as per report by Los Angeles Times, which added that the fight will take place at the new 20,000-seat arena currently under construction on the Las Vegas strip.

White also said they expect Rousey, who's under lengthy medical suspension, to be ready by the said fight date.

"We're expecting her [Rousey] back in July," White told Sportsmail. "She started back training yesterday [Tuesday]."

Although the deal is already there, there is still a setback, especially from Rousey's part. Her manager Lenny Fresquez said she might need more time to recover and it will be okay if Holm decides to fight Miesha Tate who also wants a piece of the current UFC Bantamweight champion.

"I'm not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight," Fresquez said. "She took a severe beating [in her fight with Holm] and I don't think it's in her best interest to take the next fight so fast.

"Holly's used to staying active. We're from the old school and we believe the No1 contender is there for a reason. ... [Tate] deserves a shot."

Rousey and Holm squared off last November, when the latter won via a convincing knock out in the second round. Shortly after the fight, Holm said she is giving her latest victim a chance for revenge.

"I think a rematch makes sense for sure," the 34-year-old said during the post fight conference.

"I've been on the losing side of a fight (in boxing), and I wanted a rematch. I wanted to avenge my loss. With a champion like Ronda, who's gone out of her way and gone above and beyond to do great things, absolutely, she deserves a rematch. I don't look at this fight and think I've made it. I think I've still got some things to do."
