'Prison Break' Season 5 Release Date Confirmed: Which Favorite Characters Will Return To The Show?

| By

"Prison Break" season 5 release date is said to be set on March 2016 as per report by Glamour Magazine UK.

Although gone for more than six years already, the Fox TV series decided to revive the story of brothers Michael Scoffield and Lincoln Burrows, played by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, respectively.

Both actors are also working side by side in CW superhero "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow."

The two main characters are busy but they found a way to agree to return for the acclaimed thriller. How about the others? Which old character fans will see again once "Prison Break" season 5 release date arrives.

There are no reports yet who among the previous characters will reprise their roles but reports say fan favorite villain Theodore Bagwell's chance of returning is at 85 percent. Both Purcell and Miller are of course at 100 percent.

"Arguably the actor with the biggest on-screen presence, I'm sure Knepper will be 'on hand' to star in the new series, and generally mess stuff up," Movie Pilot wrote.

Another character with a high chance of returning is Sarah Wayne Callies.

Callies, who found success later on for role as Lori in "The Walking Dead," played Dr. Sara Tancredi who was survived by Michael Scoffield after he died due to brain complications. The actress was heavily featured in Prison Break's feature film after the fourth season.

Veteran actor William Fichtner, who played another fan favorite Alexander Mahone, is not sure though according to Movie Pilot.

Fichtner is the busiest among alum since the end of "Prison Break" as he starred in several high profile films like "Elysium," "The Dark Knight" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". He also had his own TV series in "Crossing Lines" and currently guesting in another Fox show "Empire."

Fox CEO Dana Walden told Deadline there will be "a logical and believable explanation to why the characters are alive and still moving around the world".

She also confirmed major characters are coming back.

"I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back," Walden said, according to TV Line.

"Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don't think [exec producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he's going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience."
