Will Ed Sheeran Finally Get A Grammy This Time? British Singer Surprised At Nominations

| By

Ed Sheeran was nominated for three Grammy awards last year but wasn't able to snag a single trophy.

Will his phenomenal hit, "Thinking Out Loud," help him get one this year?

The nominations for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards were announced last Monday and the British acoustic singer got three nods for his record-breaking song.

"Thinking Out Loud" was recognized for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Despite the song's very warm reception from both fans and spectators, Sheeran was apparently still surprised at the nominations.

"I wasn't expecting the Grammy noms, thank you," the ever humble singer-songwriter posted on Twitter following the announcements.

On the contrary, MTV noted that the news wasn't quite as surprising as the artist thought. After all, "Thinking Out Loud" did break several records.

It became the single to have the longest climb to number one at the UK charts. It also stayed in the top 40 for one whole year. The "swoon-worthy" lyrics also became a favorite for couples of all stages in their relationships.

However, it doesn't seem like an easy win for Ed Sheeran at the Grammys this year. He's up against his BFF Taylor Swift for all three nominations for "Blank Space." He will also have to beat Kendrick Lamar, who has 11 nods.

Meanwhile, the red-haired musician isn't the only one surprised at being recognized by the award-winning body. Meghan Trainor, Charlie Puth, Diplo and Justin Bieber, among others shared how ecstatic they were for their own nominations on social media.

"Crying all day," the "All About That Base" singer posted on Twitter. "What an honor it is to be next to such incredible artists like @torikelly."

"Three Grammy Nominatons," Puth tweeted. "I am honored and humbled. I'm also crying, HAHAHAHAHA."

Could Ed Sheeran be getting a Grammy this time or will he have for another mega-hit to get that coveted trophy?
