Pizza Hut Tests 'Pizza By The Slice' in Two Locations to Improve Business Model; Attract Younger Crowd

Pizza Hut will start selling individual pizza slices Tuesday in order to revamp its business models and attract younger customers the Associated Press reported Monday.

The first two locations in York, Neb., and Pawtucket, R.I., will have new ovens to cook the slices, and array of other more commonplace ovens to bake other pizza the Associated Press reported.

"We're seeing the trends for quick and ready products," Carrie Walsh, chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut told the Associated Press.

Customers in their twenties and thirties will be part of Pizza Hut's efforts to evaluate its business model which includes take-out locations with fast pizza that can warm up in three to four minutes the Associated Press reported. Pizza Hit is making the product with a thinner curst used in its pizzas in Northeast locations the Associated Press reported.

Pizza Hut Competitor Dominos also sells pizza by the slice at select new and improved locations according to information from Dominos the Associated Press reported. Kentucky Fried Chicken has its 'KFC eleven, and McDonald's a build-your-own burger concept in Laguna Niguel, Calif.

Chipotle opened its first couple Pizza Locale locations, which has 10 classic pizzas, and four American classics for customers to choose from a press release on Chipotle's website reported. Pizzas can also be made with a variety of ingredients before they are put into the oven, and cooked to perfection in under two minutes.

Customers are greeted with a pizza station where they can make their own pie, a room capable of keeping dough at 72 degrees, and floors and walls with white tiles, and marble.

Chipotle is also looking to expand throughout the Denver area with two or more places.

The company has also teamed up with ShopHouse to offer Asian food. There are presently six ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen restaurants in Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. More locations are expected in the months ahead.
