Floyd Mayweather Jr Says He Doesn't Know Chrissy Teigen; Talks Twitter Critics For His Pet Tiger

| By

Model Chrissy Teigen indirectly called out boxing champ on Twitter for his recent post featuring a tiger on a chain.

It didn't take long for the undefeated American fighter to respond. But first things first. The retired boxer wants everyone to know, and probably Teigen, too, that he doesn't know her.

"The thing is I've never had anything negative to say about John Legend," he said in an interview with Fight Hype. "I really don't even know what his wife does, whoever she may be. I've never seen John Legend's wife in my life. If I did, I probably just don't remember it. But the thing is this: I'm pretty sure she has a lot going on in her life, but you know, I'm something to talk about, so that can be something else. I am something to talk about. "

Floyd Mayweather Jr. also insists that his name is being used by the wife of singer/songwriter John Legend.

"You see, when she spoke on me, she got her name in the public eye, so that's kind of cool of her," he said. "I said this many, many, many years ago. I'm not perfect, I can contradict myself, but I think that people spend too much time worried about what other people are doing."

Teigen posted jab towards Floyd Mayweather Jr. on December 5 through her twitter account. She did not directly mentioned Floyd's name though on her tweet.

"I'm okay with people having pet tigers because it increases their chances of being eaten by a tiger" - @chrissyteigen

Her tweet has been retweeted 2813 times and became viral. Even animals rights advocate group PETA called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. for petting a tiger, considered to be extinct right now. It said in a series of tweets.

"@FloydMayweather can have anything he wants, & what he should want is an end to the wild-animal trade, not to be a facilitator of it.

Tigers do poorly as "pets" - they belong in their native habitats, not in a cage in a celebrity's home as a "show-off" prop.

Pet" cubs are certain to be discarded at a roadside zoo or a cheap circus or another tawdry end after they become too strong to handle.

Having been torn away from their mothers at a young age, many cubs are violently beaten & all are deprived of what's natural & important.

Wild animals kept as amusements never have a fighting chance at a natural life. @FloydMayweather send her to a sanctuary!"

Floyd Mayweather Jr. claimed critics got it wrong. He said he is not just petting the tiger. He is part of a project that helps breed such specie.

"We're breeding tigers because there's a shortage of tigers in this world," he said. "The tigers that are out in the wild are being shot and killed. Human beings are killing tigers for no reason. Before you know it, there won't be any more tigers in the world. We don't want that to happen."
