The world's first-ever electronic toothbrush with smartphone syncing is made by Kolibree CNN reported Friday.
Consumers connect the brush to their smartphone in order to monitor how they brush, declare when they've completed a good brushing job, and provide positive reinforcement for taking care of their teeth adequately CNN reported.
Kolibree unveiled the $99 to $200 brush at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Prices vary based on the type purchased CNN reported.
"It works just like a regular toothbrush," Renee Blodgett a spokesperson at Kolibree told CNN. "The only difference is that all the data is stored on your phone so you can see how you're brushing," Blodgett told CNN. "You create this incentive around brushing," Blodgett told CNN.
Consumers use the brush via a mobile app and blue tooth from their smartphone device CNN reported. The brush then keeps tallies about the length of time someone brushes, what parts of their mouth someone cleans, and how they brush including up and down or side to side CNN reported.
According to CNN, brushing up and down is considered good, while only going side to side is bad.
The data stores users information, and evaluates their brushing so they become more effective CNN reported.
Developers will use the information in future Kolibree products CNN reported.
The brush is the second since the Beam Brush hit the market for $25 last year CNN reported.
The International Consumer Electronics Show began Monday and ended Friday according to the show's website.
Over 3,200 manufacturers, developers, and companies who provide equipment for consumer technologies, content, and technologies that send data appear at the show the CEA said on their website.
At least 152,000 people attend the show's 300 meetings the CEA's website reported. One hundred and fifty countries are represented the website said.
