"Fear the Walking Dead" doesn't have a clear leader yet but could Travis step up for that role? Actor Cliff Curtis talks about the possibility, season 2 spoilers and his theory on walker origins.
In the first season of "Fear," some characters rose to the occasion of being a leader, as MTV pointed out. Curtis was asked if Travis could become the spinoff's Rick Grimes.
"I think there's a possibility, but I don't think they want to give that away too easily," he replied.
Curtis added that if Travis were to step up, "he's got a long way to travel" given his beliefs, ideals and "misplaced optimism."
"What they've got planned for him, that can't happen overnight... He has to really keep being challenged in terms of who he is and what he's willing to do to survive," he added.
Although showrunner Dave Erickson already said "Fear the Walking Dead" won't tackle walker origins, this hasn't stopped fans from formulating their own theories - including Curtis, apparently.
Speaking to Collider, the 47-year-old thinks the outbreak stemmed from a bad batch of flu shots.
"It's like if you got a lemon of a car and you have bad tires, steering wheels, brakes or whatever it is," the Kiwi actor explained.
"They have to recall those thousands and thousands of cars that have been put through production and sold. What if that happened with inoculations and you had a bad batch, but legally, by law, you had to inoculate your children and your family? It would be mayhem."
These aren't season 2 spoilers though as Curtis himself said "it's not on the show."
Ever the idealist though, he thinks Travis will "want to know what's going wrong" to fix it.
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will return with 15 episodes sometime next year. Expect more spoilers and updates until then.
