After being in the bottom two for three consecutive weeks, Korin Bukowski leaves "The Voice" Season 9 last week; the Top 9 perform for the live semi-finals this week and will be trimmed to only four after the eliminations.
Proceeding to the live semi-finals are Jordan Smith, Jeffery Austin, Emily Ann Roberts, Madi Davis, Braiden Sunshine, Barrett Baber, Amy Vachal, Shelby Brown and Zach Seabaugh, with Team Pharrell having only one artist left.
Performing first is Team Blake's Barrett Baber, who managed to clinch a Top 5 iTunes song last week. This week, Barrett performed a country version of Ella Henderson's pop hit, "Ghost." Gwen said she enjoyed seeing Barrett doing what to him was a "big dream." Blake said Barrett's performance just warranted him a spot in the finals.
Next up was Team Adam's Shelby Brown who took on Joe Dee Messina's "Even God Must Get the Blues," which got the crowd and the coaches raving. Blake thought Shelby sounded amazing and that it was perfect. Gwen said it was her favorite performance of Shelby's. And Adam, her coach, is beyond proud and said Shelby deserves to be in the finale.
Performing third for the "The Voice" Season 9 live semi-finals was Jeffery Austin of Team Gwen who did a stripped down version of Cher's "Believe." Blake said it might just give Jeffery a number one spot in the iTunes charts and Gwen told the fans to vote for Jeffery.
After Ellie Goulding's performance of her single, "On My Mind," another artist from Team Gwen, Braiden Sunshine, came up next with the gospel song, "Amazing Grace." Adam commented that Braiden has grown so much with Gwen as a coach. Gwen, on the other hand, was convinced Braiden should stay on the show.
Zach Seabaugh of Team Blake came up next with Miley Cyrus' phenomenal hit and singing competition favorite "The Climb." Gossip and Gab, in its report, commented that performing a "serious" song this week may hurt Zach, saying that fans love the "fun side" of Zach and he should have stuck on that.
Team Pharrell's only remaining artist, Madi Davis, was next and she chose The Four Seasons' "Big Girls Don't Cry." Blake said the performance was like watching a Disney movie and similarly, Pharrell commented Madi was like an actress in an insanely good performance.
Blake Shelton took the stage and performed his new single, "Gonna," and then his artist Emily Ann Roberts performed Dolly Parton's "9 to 5." Rickey.org, in its report, said that while her vocals was good, Emily Ann's performance is lacking and her expression, blank.
Different from her usual twists on pop songs, Team Adam's Amy Vachal went different this week with Bob Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love." Pharrell thought Amy's voice seems like "what beautiful clouds are made of." Her coach, Adam, said that the whole room just froze and stopped when she sang.
Season 9 favorite Jordan Smith was the last to take the stage with the phenomenal hit of Queen, "Somebody to Love," which as expected, was decorated with a big production and Smith's powerful vocals. Adam said it is the best thing he has ever seen and he did not doubt that Smith would be in the finale.
In a shocking turnout, however, based on the report by Blasting News, Jordan Smith placed last among the Top 9 who performed in the live semi-finals with his cover of "Somebody to Love" at No. 59 in the iTunes Charts. At the top is Braiden Sunshine's "Amazing Grace" at No. 4 followed by Jeffery Austin's "Believe" at No. 6 and Madi Davis' "Big Girls Don't Cry" at No. 11. Jack Seabaugh and Emily Ann Roberts placed No. 15 and No. 17, respectively; while Barrett Baber and Amy Vachal are at No. 22 and No. 23, respectively. Shelby Brown, also from Team Adam, is also far from the other's ranks gaining No. 48 in the iTunes charts.
Will Jordan Smith, who have been consistently on top except this week, make it to the finale? The results will be announced tomorrow in the live eliminations.
